Traveling season is upon us, so if you are traveling by car and/or plane you can make your food ahead of time to keep you on track. For instance, you can make your own pb&j sandwiches for the plane or the car trip. I love using the cut n seal from Pampered Chef. I love kitchen gadgets, so I try to stay away from Pampered Chef as much as possible or I would spend way too much money, sometimes you can find alternatives, but this was one I had to have; especially since my boys loved the Uncrustables by Smuckers (mom just didn't love the price or all the unnecessary ingredients). So I make my own bread (not a necessity, any loaf bread will work), then I assemble my sandwiches and use my cut n seal. When I'm done, I pop them into the freezer and take the out the day that I need them. Works like a charm, and I can get them done days ahead. I then pack some healthy chips from Fresh and Easy, and we have lunch on the go. It doesn't break the bank or my scale!
If you are traveling via car, I highly recommend a travel cooler (one that you can plug in your car). I can pack yogurt, milk, cheese, my pb&j's, fruit, etc. That way we aren't tempted to stock up at the gas stations on junk. We eat the food that we are used to eating, and enjoy. No dyes and/or for the boys to make them even more hyper, no unnecessary calories for me, and I know what's in the food.
Little changes makes it all possible. I may seem harder than what it is, but it really isn't that hard! Good luck and have fun with all the summer traveling. Please feel free to post questions and/or comments on this or any of my posts!
